Introducing: Baby Sam Fredrik

Baby Sam was born on June 14th, almost five weeks early!  He was small but given that his mama was in labor for fewer than ten hours and pushed for fewer than 15 minutes, I think it's safe to say that he was ready to join the world!

Jenny and I met at work, shared an office for a couple of years and spent countless super early summer mornings and late summer nights working to get exchange students into the US.  Jenny is British, is married to a Swede and is the only full blown adult I know that shamelessly loves her birthday and Christmas.  She's sweet, thoughtful and no question will be a wonderful mother.

Jenny had never been to an American baby shower and we thought we had plenty of time before Sam arrived but he had other ideas!  It was a classically hot and humid summer day in Boston - needless to say we just about melted on the Beacon Hill roof deck we were on! Afterwards I went with Jenny and her mom to meet Sam for the first time and grab some nine day old shots.

Jenny, I couldn't be happier for you and Fredrik, congrats from all of us!!  xoxo

Thank goodness for FaceTime with Grandpa in Gibraltar!

Birthday Memories

Six months and two days later, it's the day that would have been Truax's 31st birthday.  Initially I thought I wanted to write a full length post but it's pretty simple really.

I'm thankful that I was there to help celebrate Kate's 30th birthday a year ago last weekend.  I'm thankful the weather was beautiful and we could be up on a roof deck overlooking all of DC.  I'm thankful that we stayed out late even though I really (really) didn't want to.  I'm thankful we picked crabs for dinner the next night followed by Mrs. Truax's coconut cake in Baltimore.  But more than anything, I'm thankful that her last birthday was a healthy and most importantly, happy one.

I just wish I had taken some pictures.

Miss you dearly, Kate.
