Jake & Steph 9.7.13

I have a decent number of cousins but apparently most of us haven't been in a particular hurry to get married as we hadn't had a big family wedding since 2003.  My cousin Jake, and his now-wife, Steph got married the first weekend in September at the Stonover Farm in the Berkshire Mountains.  We spent the morning of the wedding hiking at the Audubon Society where we ran into the governor with his son and a friend at the top! We spent at least half the trip back down being slightly/pathetically star struck.

The rain held off just long enough for an outdoor ceremony followed by a quick drink outside with the ducks of the property before we were moved inside to avoid some passing showers.  When I saw we were moved inside, I mean we were moved into a GORGEOUS barn, decked out in simply stunning lighting and flower design.  To say that I was obsessed would be an understatement.  Also notable was the food - easily ranks in the top three wedding meals I've had.

Jake and Steph opened Shore Soap Co. in Newport, Rhode Island last winter and let me tell you, it's the cutest place you ever did see!  They make all the soaps and lotions themselves in the back of their store using fresh, natural ingredients.  I already had some of their lotion at work but as a guest received a box of goodies that I can't wait to use at home.

Unfortunately I'm struggling through some focus issues with my new camera so I'm not excited about sharing too many images (I did A LOT of of very frustrated deleting though feel slightly vindicated that Nikon told me to send in my camera for repair).  That being said, Steph looked stunning and Jake was as dapper as ever and we all had a really great time, especially when they rolled out the late night mac 'n cheese!

Jake & Steph, I hope you had as much fun as we did!  Can't wait to come back down to Newport and visit you guys and the store.  Happy honeymoon planning!

Engaged: Tim & Carol

I spent Labor Day weekend up in Maine and on a bit of a whim, was asked to shoot some engagement photos for Tim and Carol.  Tim is my sister's boyfriend's step brother (follow that?) and he lives with Carol out in Ann Arbor.  Tim grew up in my neck of the woods in midcoast Maine and Carol is from Tennessee.  They have a June 2014 wedding planned at Point Lookout Resort up in Northport, Maine - I attended a wedding there a few years ago and it is one of my all time favorite venues with an absolutely stunning view of Penobscott Bay from the top of Ducktrap Mountain.

Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate quite as we would have liked but Tim and Carol are easy going so we had a ton of fun.  We followed the photo shoot with drinks and some red hotdogs (vegetarian and non-Mainer Carol may or may not have been appalled) and had an all around lovely afternoon!

Tim & Carol, thanks SO much for letting me shoot 'real' (read: non-iPhone) engagement pictures!  Hope the rest of your Maine vacation was great and that the wedding planning goes well.  Hope you had as much fun as I did!
